|
A veteran New York blues player, Russell"Hitman" Alexander, has performed at clubs and venues ranging from after hours dives in the Alphabet City section of Manhattan (back when even the police wouldn't get out of the squad cars) and late night bars in Harlem, to the Royal Ball for the Prince of Malta and the Quadcentennial for the Prince of Spain. Hitman says "Over the last 25 years, I've played with or opposite more musicians, on more stages, and with more great acts than I could ever remember". This includes Johnny Copehand, Lavette Jackson, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, The Coosters, The Ink Spots, and Whitney Houston. On his first UK tour, Hitman played to great acclaim at major blues venues and festivals including the Great Britain R'n'B Festival in Colne. Due to this successful tour, Hitman is returning to the UK in May and JUne200. His Hitman Blues Band will feature musicians from UK Bands, Groovejuice or Storm Warning, depending on the location and Groovejuice or Storm Warning will also play a support set. The 46 Year old native New Yorker has been in the business for 25 years and his music has taken him around the world. Hitman also says "My mom's English and my Dad was also a musician and the biggest influence on my life. But I guess Elmore James, B.B. King and Buddy Gay were also big influences." Well known in the New York Club scene for his heart-stopping combination of gritty blues, hot guitar riffs and sexy slides, Hitman has also performed at the the Royal Ball for the Prince of Malta and the Quadcentennial for the Prince of Spain. Hitman is a guitarist as comfortable with a full throttle burn as with
a shuffle. He's also an impressive wordsmith...he is a gale force.
