Started during the summer of 2002, formed with a mutual love among it's
members for playing the blues. A year and a half later, after many rehearsals,
changes and refining, the band has evolved their sound into a mixture of
blues, soul, jazz and funk music.
Based out of Boston. USA. the Driftwood Citizens have been bringing their energetic, danceable live performances to audiences throughout New England that are only exciting to hear but fun to watch. Playing a majority of instrumental tunes the quintet consists of Tyler Drabick on guitar and vocal. Sam Gilman on Hammond organ and clavinet. Matt Fitz-Henry on bass. Blake Goedde on drums and recently Dan Gilman on tenor sax. All, except Dan, are graduates from Berklee College of Music and all, actively, play with many musicians in the Boston area. The band is influenced by many great artist's - including Freddie King, Booker T, Jimmy Smith, The Meters, James Brown, the early recordings of Ray Charles, Lou Donaldson, Lonnie Smith, Grant Green, Soulive, MMV, Maceo Parker, David "Fathead" Newman, Jimi Hendrix and the Allman Brothers. Tyler is the primary composer of the band's original material, yet the arrangements are done collectively. Their repertoire is expanding and their fan base increases with every gig. The band spent January 2004 recording an EP at Northern Tracks studio in Vermont. AHPromotions saw the guys in the Middle East club in Cambridge. USA and signed them to perform in the UK and Europe. there and then. It is the goal of The Citizens to bring their love for good music to
as many audiences as they can. |
